We're BAAACCKKK!!
We took a couple of days off for Halloween but starting yesterday we've been back at it! We started a new unit on Animal Homes (Nests.) I introduced Charlie's new letter, the letter E, and introduced the letter sound of the letter N to Johnny. We read 2 books on animal homes and 1 book that was specifically about bird's nests and then we did the following:
I set Charlie up with a set of elephants #ed 1-10 and then a bag of clothes pins #ed 1-10 and told him to match them. We've done this a few times before and he wasn't able to do it without my help. So, I figured I would let him do this by himself today, thinking that I would have to go back and help him redo them all. Boy was I shocked when I saw that he was able to match every single one by himself!!!!! He did get a little confused with 2 and 5 but that's understandable. I was quite impressed.
Johnny working on a sound discrimination page.
Charlie was supposed to be doing a color by #'s page but it turned into a color how ever you want and then cut out page :-)
On the left are animals and on the right are their homes.
See you all later!!

Apple- Day 5
Well, today has been pretty relaxing and productive. It was much needed after a very busy Tuesday of Ladies Bible Class, school (we learned about Johnny Appleseed and played a memory match game with our ABC game cards.), and soccer practice. We got a late start today and it pushed back lunch and naps. I also let the kids play outside for a long time because it is absolutely beautiful out there today! I'm trying to not stress out as much when it comes to being on a certain schedule with school and household chores (which seem to NEVER end.) Today, I think I've done ok in this department. Anyways, on to school things:
This wasn't on the agenda today but we were reviewing how A is a vowel and how it is used in word like CAT and MAN. I was writing some words with A in them on my white board and Johnny wanted to write some words on his white board.
Charlie worked on tracing some of his alphabet.
Johnny worked on some handwriting and drawing pictures of words that start with the letter sounds we've gone over so far.
He drew 2 lungs for L, haha.
Then, we made apple trees by tracing their hands and arm for the trunk and cutting that and some green paper out and gluing it on blue paper and then finger painting apples on them.
They turned out really cute! Although, I'm thinking Charlie's is looking a little gruesome. Just in time for Halloween :-)

Monday Funday
Today, we reviewed our letters sounds that we've done so far and then we:
Charlie did some tracing.
I also cut apple in half so that we could see the start on the inside and we counted how many seeds were in the apple. We also read a couple of books about dividing apples and we learned about fractions. Johnny had the idea to get all of the seeds out of the apple for us to save and plant outside.
Charlie poked holes in his D's with an extra large thumb tack.
Johnny worked on his math page.
Charlie did some tracing.
Johnny completed his cut and paste page.
Charlie did some sequencing.
I cut up 3 different types of apples that we got from the apple orchard on Friday and we did some apple tasting. They felt, smelled, looked and tasted how the apples were different.

They really liked this apple tasting!
